You guys remember this post with a gazillion sock monkeys? Well, I started making so many monkeys because I had to make some for my friends' kids for their birthdays. Shortly after that all started, I had a conversation with said friends (R&K) about Sock Ocs and Socthulu and it was really fun so I decided to make our ideas for them for Christmas. Check out Socthulu destroyng the world from behind his drum kit (the drum kit belongs to R and is set up in our basement):

I happened to have found the perfect pair of socks for this at Target. They were really funky and frilly at the top and weird and I didn't see how anyone could wear them but I cut off that part and made wings and tentacles for him and it was perfect.

And for K I made the Soctopus she so wanted, complete with suckers and 65 buttons:

Very crazy monsters/sea monkeys? Socthulu is hillarious. I won't share what went through my mind when I saw that "snoot"  Cheesy Soctopus is darling, too.

Are you old enough to remember sea monkeys? You would mail away for them {backs of comic books had the order form}, re-hydrated them in water when you got them. They are a type of shrimp. Kids used to get a kick out of them coming to life from just a dried up crust.

So...your next challenge....A SOCK LOBSTER.  Grin Sponge Bob would be proud of you  Grin Very interesting project.

Oh, and I like the drums that R has. My kit is set up very similar.

Thanks, T. Cthulhu is a kind of demi-godmonster from H.P Lovecraft's writing. He describes him as "A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind." Lots of good stuff about Cthulhu all over the place. There is a needle felted one on the fiber boards, There is a role palying game, heck there is even a version of Fluxx based on the tales of Lovecraft.
