This quilt and matching pillow case feature the Steampunk themed fabric "Victorian Dreams" from Timeless Treasures fabrics.  I fell in love with the panel, and knew it had to be a quilt, so this is what I came up with.

The quilt features sixteen 12" blocks and thirty-two 6" blocks, with a finished quilt size of 48"x72".  The fabrics for this quilt are all cottons, with mostly poplin, though some shirting and home-decor weight fabrics were used.  Lace, ribbon, buttons, beads, and other embellishments, as well as hand embroidery were utilized throughout the quilt.

The finished quilt top was backed in a wool herringbone, hand tied, and bound using a plaid bias tape. I also added a sleeve to hang the quilt on my wall in front of our block glass window.

With some of my left over fabric, I made a matching envelope style pillow for the couch.  I'm hoping to have enough for one more.

I'd love to know what you think!

I think you rock...and I did that for you.
What wonderful details, and interesting mix of items placed into it.
It looks snuggly, but glad you are going with the wall hang thing. It will last longer that way. And later if you want to just decorate a bed {and not actually use it} you could always take it down just for show.
I love the crazy quilts, too. I have been trying to teach myself this method. I need to free up my art a little more, and be random. You really have a good eye for balance. And color. Your textures are wonderful. Looks like you have a good stash to work from, too. Quite beautiful.

stillatthetop Thanks so much!  Crazy quilting is super easy. I'd be happy to walk you through the process of piecing a block sometime.  My favorite part is that I don't need to match corners, or points.  It's very freeing.

ama and KarmicLollipop, thank you so much!  and KarmicLollipop, you can totally do this. I actually find crazy quilts to be much easier than other types of quilts, because you don't have to be precise. And best of all - there are NO rules!

This is gorgeous! I have been wanting to do a crazy quilt forever, but I have primarily cottons and was afraid I would be not doing a crazy quilt justice. Plus I'm not really an embellishment girl. This has given me inspiration, and I may just have to get off of my butt and get one done! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Ezri_B, I absolutely love using quilting cottons in a crazy quilt, the prints add a dimension of texture that replaces the texture you get from wools and velvets.  Plus, the cotton is much easier to work with.  I'm really not one for handwork, but you can easily learn 2 or 3 stitches, and it does go surprisingly fast. Or, you can always use your sewing machine with a thicker thread, if it's new enough to have fancy stitches.  Either way, the time is well worth it.

Linakins - yes. This quilt is very heavy. I'm not sure exactly how much it weighs, but now I'm curious, so I'll have to check next time I take it down to switch out. Of course, there are several reasons for the weight.
1. Like most crazy quilts, it is foundation pieced to muslin, so there's automatically an extra layer of fabric in the quilt.
2. I backed this quilt in a nice thick wool herringbone.  It looks pretty, keeps the sun from coming trough the quilt, and is, of course, much heavier per yard than a standard quilting cotton would be.
3. The buttons, brads, and other findings on top of the quilt also add substantial weight to the quilt.

rachelgita - making a quilt into a wall hanging is super easy.  You just add a hanging sleeve, and put the quilt on a rod.  It's just like making curtains.  You can check out the tutorial I used here: http://tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com/2012/02/hang-your-quilt-hanging-sleeve-tutorial.html

Embarrassed I thought I commented on this already... This is the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen in my life! I remember thinking that about a quilt that I saw when I was a little girl that had been made in the same style ca. 1900. Ever since, I have loved the concept of the crazy quilt and you have put together an even more awesome version!
