I love journal page swaps....especially fabric ones. (recent swap: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=434288.0#axzz37ueSyfAO) Angielou1 received a Maleficent quote. I've always loved the tall austere Maleficent character from Disney's original Sleeping Beauty. Even joined the kids one Halloween when they did Sleeping Beauty, Prince Charming and I was Maleficent. I scared young children!

The technique on Maleficent is a variety of reverse applique, layers of fabric, stitched the picture then cut away the top layer to reveal the lower layers. Edges are left raw to fray a bit giving it more texture. The quote was ironed on with fabric fusing.

For Planet Pie, I also used the reverse applique method as well as chenilling, which is a technique of layering little scraps of fabric between two fabric pieces, stitching your pattern, then cutting through all the layers (except the back) and washing and drying to get the most fraying.

There is a great YouTube by Jamie Malden for chenilling, she calls it slashing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaPsMLE2FQ8

And for madcrafter she got a Carl Sagan quote. I'm a scifi reader, so she could have gotten anything!

Great pages, rae. Love the hexagon background.
Thank you! I'm very much into hexagon and lightening bolts right now.
Cmarion3, your work is amazing! Your swap partners must be over the moon!

Some more pages to go with my theme Middle

I just fell out of my chair!
You people just crack me up!
It is very neat to follow along.
I need to get back to my journals, but have way more projects ahead of them. *Sigh*

I like how you put yourself in your pages Raeraethejetplane, I am not that brave.

The smaller page that open inside is neat too.

Stillatthetop, I'm not sure how much text you can see on that spread. I should have some close ups. The name of the color on the pain chip is "fuzzy navel" and the person on the right page is Janelle Monae with her lyrics "Even is it makes other uncomfortable I will love who I am." Oh, and the white and brown background is flocked. I totally didn't plan that! I bet my subconscious drew me to those pages for a reason.

yoopidou, for my more vulnerable thoughts I use stacked journaling. Here is a tutorial http://approachable-art.blogspot.com/p/stacked-journaling-101.html Adds lots of mystery to a spread.
