Although I'm not together enough to enter challenges, I love seeing the amazing work others come up with and often find inspiration from the subjects that contribute to my projects. I applaud those who can follow instructions and work to a deadline.

A few thoughts for subjects:

Tonal variation: Restrict the palette to a single color, use as many tones and techniques as you like.

Multimedia ATCs: Restrict the canvas to a small size, use any colors and techniques.

3D: Use needlework techniques to sculpt or otherwise form an object with depth.

Kid kits: Put together a simple project and teach needlework to a child. Or someone who just acts like a child.

New materials: Try out nontraditional or unusual supplies. For example, specify that metal or paper must be a main ingredient.

Fun on zero dollars: All items must come out of inventory or be found for nothing.

Copyright violations: Reproduce a pop culture image in needlework.

These can also be paired with specific visual elements. Some themes to consider: Typography, portraiture, science, politics, modern art, demotivational memes. And of course, because this is the Internet - cats!

Favorite quotes?
Something featuring applique.
Stitch your favorite memory.
Illustrate a dream you had.
Product or brand that you can't live without. Oreos anyone?
Halloween every day challenge.
Favorite childhood book.
Stitch something to give to a friend or family member.
Unfinished project challenge.
and my final suggestion I'd like to call the 'Liberace challenge' where you make something over the top gaudy-awesome... something with rhinestones, marabou, sequins.

That's all I've got for now. Coffee long worn off. Wink

I thought of a few, but I definitely second the tacky theme. I have a whole bunch of sequins and sparkly bits I've been itching to use.  Grin

*Journal entry/art journaling/sketchbook page
*Repeating pattern
*Marriage of old and new (vintage pattern style w modern twist, modern scene with a antique embroidery saying)
*Superheroes/villains (real or made up)
*Cause awareness (ribbons, symbols for a cause, etc)
*Scene/character/symbol from favorite book
*Scene/character/symbol from favorite movie
*Nature reclaiming land/building/items
*Tea-party/tea cup scene (could be tea w the Queen to Alice in wonderland to tea w a good book, pick your own)
*Item most precious to you
*Self portrait/items that make you happy
*Optical illusion
*Four seasons
* favorite toy growing up
*character from favorite children's book
*illustrate a quote

Some are sort of thinkers but I think they'd turn out nifty little stitches.
