For a recent photo shoot with my HP group I painted a bunch of props. A pigwidgeon and howler piece were particular favorites of mine. I decided to try making both into ornaments. I scanned both paintings, shrank them down, printed them on canvas with my printer and then sewed the results onto felt. For Pigwidgeon I added a bit of stuffing to give him some dimension. I used eyelets to create a hanger and shredded the edges of the canvas material for a more homespun look. I really love the results:
Way back in November I wrangled three of my favorite crafters into a private HP ornament swap. Here are the ornaments I came up with for each of them.
Hand-painted onto muslin, cut out and glued onto red felt and then coated with 3 coats of Modge Podge to add a bit of stiffness and protect the painted image from fraying/fading/small children with sticky fingers.
Potter Puppet Pals Theater
I pried the lid of an altoids tin, painted the outside like wood, lined the inside with blue and made little red felt curtains. Next I painted the three characters and cut them out and then added them to the theater with some pop dots stickies so the tin would have a nice layered effect. I used the hinges from the tin's former lid to secure ribbon as a hanger.
Using a blank plastic ornament (a slightly flattened disc shape) I painted half the inside white and then added tinsel glitter to simulate snow. Next I printed a blue stag image on transparency paper, cut it out and hung it inside the ornament to dangle freely. Finally I painted the words Expecto Patronum in an HP font on the front.
