I have made little animals and creatures for all my nieces and nephews, so the time had come to make one for my niece. Her whole room is owls, so that seemed like a good place to start. I did a google image search for owls, and decided to use a mix of several of them for my owl.

Originally I was going to have a squared off top and a rounded bottom, but I made the top WAY too big, so I ended up turning it sideways and having an owl that was squared on top and bottom.

Then I set to work on the eyes. My plan was to make two white circles for the eyes, but they actually turned out more yellow...crocheting at night = less than ideal color differentiation. Wink  Then I made a green smaller circle for the iris, and got a black button for the pupil. The nose was an orange cone. The "belly" was made from 5 rows of crocodile stitch.

All in all I'm happy with how the little owl turned out!

What a perfect use for crocodile stitch.

I have boxes of vintage piano music.  Some as old as 1890's!  PM me if you'd like some!
