OK, bit of trivia and experience hanging out with the Western Hardwood Association (an association our advertising agency managed back when I lived out in Oregon...I'm in Connecticut now and they still have trees...much smaller trees!)

So they rough cut the wood for 2 x 4's to 2" x 4". But after all the planing and smoothing and drying, it comes out to approximately 3.5 x 1.5. Now you know. Thank goodness as  ATC's fit perfectly into this strange wood working world. What is the standard in Europe?

And I love all of those chunky ATC's in the Pinterests listed. Very cool.

SO. EXCITED.   I just love ATCs but in block form, that is just way too awesome.  Going to stalk all the ideas posted and see what I can come up with for my partner.

has anyone ever measured the box that a bar of soap comes in?HuhHuh? I've seen a video out in blogland that uses a soapbox as your "canvas"................... Alma Stoller I believe.  I have never measured it, but it "has" to be close to ATC size.
Not that I'm going to use that for this wood block swap, but I've been saving those boxes for months.  DH thinks I've completely lost my mind and have become a hoarder!  But my thinking was, stuff with something sorta "heavy". (i use alot of wool in my mixed media, and wool scraps are heavy-ish), then seal up the box, paint it with gesso or mod podge background papers over it to use as your canvas for "chunky art"................... ...

just wanted to share that the soap box could be your "practice" piece you keep for yourself  Grin Grin Grin Grin since I"m not sure of the exact size.

here's the link:
