I'm a little intimidated by the crowd I am running with (to say nothing of the apparent run on substance addicted pets we may have hanging out with some of us).  But I will suck it up and try my best to keep up - I have sketched out an idea, cut some shapes and have put ink to fabric and paint to paper - on with the fun and games!

I managed to cut 5 blocks to start working on.  Then decide which one will fit my partner best.  Plans are to finish flooring the bathroom today so I can play later  tonight. Wanting to get started so bad!

I got a bonus night off because they had extra staff on tonight and I had the option to take a vacation day - so I am not sleeping, and painting things now.  Resin may not be happening, as I found something in my stash - or at least not happening how I envisioned it.  Please please please let the things in my head come to reality... at least when it comes to this project...

I was finally able to convince the husband that a 2x4 really is 1.5 x 3.5
He's built several DVD shelves and work benches so you would think he would have realized that before now.  Roll Eyes
He's going to cut some for me today.

Hey, I say fake it until you make it. Stand tall, never apologize and if you don't succeed...try, try again. I'm sure we can find some more sayings to add here.

We all started somewhere and I'm guessing we all missed the mark somewhere (at least in our own minds). But remember, this is no contest or one-upmanship (OK, in my own mind I always try to out do at least myself). This is down and dirty fun. Glued fingers, paint under the fingernails, completely messy work areas. Craftster has to be the most fun I have ever had (with someone I wasn't married to..he he). Shocked I love the little party hats.

Happy New Year and Happy Crafting 2014.

PS: I am hopped up on cold remedies so excuse the crazy post.

Hrm....  DH & I rent our incredibly tiny house, and we have no room for tools, let alone scrap wood laying around.  We actually stopped by Home Depot this morning for something else and I looked there for some bits, but it seems everything was cleaned up around their cutting area.  I'll have to wait till my friend who runs the scene shop at our theatre comes back into town and see if he's got some scraps for me.  (After all, I agreed to drive him to the airport in Nashville, so I think that means he could find me some wood laying around. Wink)  David doesn't get back till the 7th though, so for now I'm researching, planning, and plotting....

oh my...swapping with a long time craftster crush is thrilling!

That's exactly what I was thinking! Grin

I didn't have time to read through the 7 pages of posts when I first signed up, so it was a nice surprise to come back to it today and find that not only do we have partners already, but I get alwaysinmyroom as mine! Yay! And so glad the two latecomers got let in out of the cold, too. It wouldn't be the same without either of them.

Onyxnox, I did lose power in the Christmas storm, but for only two days. Your mentioning about getting a cedar block reminded me that I brought in a box of cedar scraps during the blackout (to put off burning the furniture for a bit longer, in case it came to that) and it'll be perfect for this swap. (Though pieces of wood are something I never lack access to anyway.)

Interesting and subversive ideas already perking through my head, and I haven't even gone trolling through Pinterest yet.

I'm debating whether I should dig under 4 feet of snow for scrap 2 x 4 or just call it a day and go buy a board....    Bet there is nice weathering on the buried wood, that is if I can actually locate it in the snow haha.
