The purple one is just gorgeous!!

You must share the recipe for the cardamon cake!  It has a very unusual flavor.

And what a gorgeous quilt for your friend!  I am sure they will cherish it!  I love the beautiful sky!

You must share the recipe for the cardamon cake!  It has a very unusual flavor.

From the Hairy Bikers Bakeation book

200g butter.
2tbsp cardamom pods
225g caster sugar
3 large eggs
300g self raising flour
1tsp baking powder
200ml semi skimmed milk

Topping...

3 heaped tbsp demerara sugar
40g chopped hazelnuts or pecans

Pre heat the oven to 190c/fan 170c/gas 5. Grease a 20x30cm cake tin and line with greaseproof paper - I usually make this cake either in 2 loaf tins or you could split it into 2 round tins if you wanted to have the buttercream filling version.

Put the butter into a sauce pan and melt slowly, put to one side to cool.

Break open the cardamom pods and crush the seeds with a pestle and mortar.

Put the sugar and eggs into large bowl and beat with an electric whisk untill pale and light.
Add cardamom, flour, baking powder, cooled melted butter and a little of the milk, whisk untill just combined.

Gradually add the rest of the milk whisking constantly untill the batter is smooth and is the texture of double cream.

Pour into the prepared tin/s.

Mix together chopped nuts and sugar and sprinkle over the top of the cake.

Bake in the centre of your oven for about 30/35 mins or untill well risen and golden brown. Check it's baked with a skewer. bake for a bit longer if it doesn't come out clean.

Leave the cake to cool in the tin for about 30 mins.

You can either have this iced or not  -  tastes really good both ways Smiley

oOOOH!  I love cardamom!  But the Hub can't stand the smell, let alone the taste.  BUT!  I'm headed to my folks, so I might just try that out Grin

oh thanks!  My mouth is watering now for cake!  I assume the sugar for the icing is the confectioners sugar we have or 10x.

ok...a few finished items:

Halloweenish Socks for a friend

Bee Stitch hat...it is suppose to be baby size but it actually fits me; tried it on all of the kids and it is way too big...I even used the exact same yarn, so no idea what happened...oh well...I am sure someone will wear it! Grin

And, a shrine for the Fake Craftalong!

the caster sugar goes in the cake, the demerara (or light brown) is mixed with the nuts & spread on the top before baking. I didnt put any notes about the buttercream filling or the drizzle icing as I just hedged that bit when I did it Cheesy

Thankyou all for the nice warm welcome! It's such a pleasure to see everyone's crafts!

I'm not a big octopi fan but that one's just too cute not to love it. Really admire your clay talents. I keep telling myself that I need to try making something, but then I fall right back into my comfort zone of crafting with paper or fabric. Think that clay work needs to be on my bucket list, but it's so much easier just to admire talented people like you!

Very nice job on the clothing, too!

Thankyou very much! I'm not a big fan of octopi either haha Cheesy My first idea was just adding flowers but I thought the blue was too dark blue for sky blue so underwatercreature it was Wink
And I need to start and add some crochet or paper craft to my list! I can crochet some stitches but I can never follow patterns ^^; So intimidating!

I have added you to page one, Reichan, so that you can find your list at all times!
Love the clay items as well!  and, that mullet dress is quite lovely!
Welcome aboard!

Thankyou! ^^

Ooh that shrine is lovely!

Always, I love your shrine!  I saw so many lovely shrines in Greece and am now seriously thinking of making one.  Smiley  I have something rather ambitious in mind considering I can't draw/paint to save my life.  Hopefully I'll get to share it here in a few months.

I guess a lot of countries have shrines...I was blown away by the little roadside shrines in Mexico, which is where I got my idea from...I also saw many in Japan so I am thinking of doing some sort of Japanese themed one.  I just think they are fun and if you re-think your stash, it is amazing what you can find!
