I've been admiring those animal-topped jars on Pinterest forever, because they seemed so adorable and easy to make.  Breegy had some on her list for the ows so I made some for her.

I thought these would be a breeze.  Not so much.  The material that the plastic animal toys are generally made of hates spray paint.  So when I tried colors, they never dried.  Like, ever.  Then I went to Home Depot and asked the friendly old men working there (I love old men that work at Home Depot) what they thought was up.  They showed me the labels of most spray paint actually say that it won't work on that material.  But luckily, this silver textured kind worked, so, phew.

Very nice, JillHogan! I love the older hardware fellows, too. They tend to know more.
I have had luck with quickly dipping the plastic in acetone {nail polish remover} so that the surface is etched.
It sort of melts the plastic, so work quickly  Grin Let dry, then spray. But you learned right. Spray paints are not all the same. Sometimes a primer like Rustoleum will etch the finish and get a paint to work right. I have also had luck with using baby powder after the stickies occur. But it dulls the finish color to be a matte tone {ie. takes off any shine}. Just ideas for experiments. There are so many different types of plastics, and paints.

I am still fighting with some laquered beads that I sprayed. Before Christmas...and they are still sticky. I guess it is time for a trip to my hardware store to find one of those "seasoned" fellows.  Grin

Three more stamps. Sorry for the bad photos - I really need to get a black ink pad so I can take better photos.
These are for my children to give their teachers to start the new school year.

It may be hard to see in the photo, but the silver ink is really pretty.  Smiley

I learnt an important lesson today making homemade chai latte: you really shouldn't use ground cinnamon instead of cinnamon sticks. I didn't have any sticks available, so I thought I'd just add ground cinnamon, but ground cinnamon can apparently clog a coffee filter, which is what I was using to strain the chai. Did anybody here now that? I'm really surprised!

I did it ! I finally finished! I had tried to knit two socks at once, but it was too loose for me and it got too confusing so I knitted one, then the second one. (Definitely got the SSS  Tongue)

Anyways, here they are !
