I have a lot of skully scarves and one of my work colleagues tends to nick them on nights out.  So to rememdy this, I made him one out of fleece and cotton:

Hee,if my daughter saw that skull scarf, she'd want to nick it too!
I love the wire hearts, especially the green one!
I also have a big roll of unused freezer paper I need to try stenciling with.  Grin
I have been in a crafting slump, but I love seeing what everyone has created.

Sixth project of 2014 completed! A document filing system that works for us.

I guess IKEA doesn't really consider its expedit collection as home-office stuff, or it just doesn't see the need for a filing system at home. They have solutions for larger offices, but we don't really need a dedicated filing cabinet. There's not THAT many important documents to keep Tongue I made a few changes to their large kassett box so I can hang hanging files in them and have tidy, practical document storage. I'm happier with something this prozaic than I fear is justified.

These past few years I've been wanting to sign up for a pottery class, it was actually one of last year's 50 projects to complete.  It's been a no-go this entire time so this time, I wondered if it was even worth dreaming of the impossible.  Which leads me to today...  A non-profit I volunteer for, Anti-Hunger Coalition, is preparing for its 3rd annual Empty Bowls fundraiser event by teaming up with the college's pottery class instructor.  Participants pay $25 for their ticket and choose a handmade bowl to eat amazing soup (prepared by local chefs) and bread from.  There is also a silent auction that takes place at the same time, and we fit all donated items into a bowl theme.  With 200 tickets being sold this year, plus the donation items, that's a lot of bowls to make!  And today, I got to take part in one of the pottery sessions!!

This is absolutely a new medium to me, I've never done anything sculpting-related before, so I just went with it.  It took me about 4 1/2 hours, but here's what I came up with, in the order they were created:

We have Wednesday evening scheduled to sand and glaze but I don't know 100% if I can see my projects through to the end yet.  Still, I feel that all four bowls deserve a "project complete" stamp for today's efforts.

I'm gonna jump on in here Smiley  Think it will be neat to see how many things I actually make throughout the year as sometimes it feels as if I do nothing crafty for months and then am flooded with craftiness other months.  So here goes nothing!

Completed Projects
1. SpongeBob t-shirt (my nephew drew it with fabric crayons, I transferred it onto the shirt and had to darken up the picture with the crayons again since it didn't transfer so well) Jan 11

2. Perler bead turtle and dolphin (my nephew made them and I did the ironing and cleaning up of the loose beads on the floor LOL) Jan 11

3. Moustache t-shirt (Ongoing Holiday Swap for lydiaharper)

4. Minecraft diamond sword (OHS for lydiaharper)

7. 40th Anniversary frame for my parents

8. Bulletin board at work "What does the Fox Say?"  I was given the song as my base for the board and just went with it.  Came up with the art projects for the kids and created that fox on my own.  I work at a special education preschool and in my classroom, I am the one who creates the art projects.  I was not too excited about this board until I finished, then I fell in love with it.

9. Lemon Garlic Brussel Sprouts- made from pinterest- my goal is to make more items than I pin this year. So far so good!

Got a few more goodies done!  Smiley  These are things I've been meaning to do forever, but somehow I got distracted!

A few pairs of earrings, a couple of monopoly bracelets, and a couple of Tinkerbell and Friends scrabble tile bracelets!

I've finished up a couple of other things, but they are for swaps so they have to be under wraps for a while.  Smiley
