Thanks for the explanation, Chirel!  (BTW, I love your icon!)

This sounds like a lot of fun.  Altered books are my latest crafting obsession.  I'd love to get into stenciling, though...  I'd love to join in for my first time. Smiley

Last week I wrote a rather long and brilliant and witty response  Wink which didn't post...probably because I forgot to click "Post"...

Anyway, I don't remember everything I said, but one thing was the suggestion that perhaps from time to time the craftalong can begin with some volunteer giving a tutorial on something.  Obviously, there are some good tutorials on Craftster already, but it might be a fun idea, just to give everyone a basic start on whatever that month's craft is.  At first I thought this might be a bummer for whoever does the tutorial, as it wouldn't be new to them, but you can always find a new *angle* to a craft you already do.  That's the challenge.

I think the craftalongs are great, because it spurs me to try things I'd never get around to otherwise.  I also like to see how different people interpret the theme differently.  I prefer 3 months rather than 1 at a time, because I'm able to look ahead -- like, I was trying to find something to do with the yarn I bought in NYC, and then I remembered the January craftalong, so I put that project aside til now.

Some things I might like to try in future:
doll making
monsters/stuffies
altered books
resin casting
polymer clay
felting
collage

Ooh, polymer clay and resin casting.  How fun!  How do I decide???

I like the tutorial idea.  I'll address it more in the new signup, which should be up shortly.

Happy Crafting!

Sandy
