Hi!

I was so lucky to be partners with jemimah in the IYP swap, she wanted something functional. I suggested placemats and then went through her likes and dislikes.
I was so happy to see the fish from Kajsa Wikman's book Scandinavian stitches.

This is a great project to use all your scraps! I combined blue and grey to make the herring.

And close ups:

It is a bit hard to see, but I sewed on the word "silakka"  which is Finnish for herring.

The cutting part and ironing on is pretty time consuming, but it is fun to make and I love the result! I also made the binding myself and sewed that on the wrong way so I had to rip it  Undecided It ended up the right way, yay!  Cheesy And my partner jemimah likes it, double yay!!  Grin

Thanks for looking!  Smiley

I love these! It's cute how the fish are facing different directions. Great as always, Wendie!

These are lovely!  I think the outlines of the fish are very crisp and clear, if you know what I mean.

Thanks Leslie! I liked making them all little different.  Smiley

And I think I know what you mean, SiFi Mom. I cut the fabric AFTER ironing it onto flisofis (if that is the right word) and ironed it on immediately after cutting. That way the fabric gets less change to fray. If that makes sense..  Wink
Thanks for your nice comment!
