I made this so we wouldn't have to keep reaching for a large oven mitt or a dish towel when using our cast iron (also certain pots). It works quite nicely, and hangs on a little out-of-the-way hook right by the oven.



Its construction is very simple, just a layer of cotton, a layer of special heat-reflecting batting, and a layer of corduroy on the inside, bias tape around the edges.



I hand-sewed everything, because I have a terrible history with sewing bias tape in curves!

very nice!  I used to see these everywhere but I haven't in a while!  I think I'll make one, upcycling one of my old ugly mitts!  Wonder if that batting has a shelf life...
