I've been slamming out the gifts over the past week or so.  On a whim, I made this goldfish for a friend, and the puzzle ball for my 18 month old.  I'm really happy with both of them.  I think a whole school of fish would be fun, all in different colors and patterns.

I like both of those!  I'm going to see if I can find an Amish Puzzle ball pattern as I'd like to try one.

I used this one from Ravelry and found it clear and easy to use.  I like that it's easy to memorize the patterns for the parts, so after the first couple you can do them an auto pilot while you watch TV: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/amish-puzzle-ball-crochet-pattern

That goldfish is so cute!  Did you make your own pattern?
