I made this for my neighbor yesterday.  Despite it looking flat, there are two layers of heat resistant batting and regular batting.  It was really puffy in the middle once I finished the square outlines so I decided it needed stitching there as well.  First time I've tried one of these but it won't be the last since they work up very quickly.  It's 8 1/2" square.

That's neat. Are you sending cupcakes with it? I was just thinking that would be fun, too.

I make those with scraps with one side done in crazy quilt squares and stitch down the squares.  I use them for a pot holder, drink mat, mouse pad. They are handy! Your fabric is pretty.
