Buried in Beads!

This was originally going to be a donated gift for the yearly gift give away at the work Christmas Party.  Then I realized no one would appreciate something pretty, since they all want to win one of the big ticket items (TV, iPods, iPod Dock thing, radio control snow machine, crap like that.)  Plus the group really started to take some stuff for granted and irritated me.

So instead I gave it to one lady as a combo birthday/Christmas gift since she is always so giving and basically embodies the holiday sprit all year long.  She loved it.

The write up and pretty graphic covered box were for the original plan of a give away.  I know, I'm classy and used tape rather than modge podge but I realized I didn't have any at about midnight and just wanted it done.
The write up is a brief bit of history on Mistletoe, Ivy, and Holly regarding their folklore and traditions around the holiday season.

It looked pretty nice in the box too.

It is beautiful!
The beadwork in the hoop is stunning.
And I'm glad you decided to give it to someone who will really appreciate it.

I just love the swirls in the bead work.  I think this may be my favourite dream catcher of all I have seen.

Thanks!  They are fun to make, and you can get really fancy with the style of bead netting inside the hoop.  This was the first one I ever completed.

Originally a really pushy admin lady strong armed me into making it, so I planned on it being super tacky.  Unfortunately I am horrible at picking out colors that look tacky together.  I am really glad I gave it to someone who appreciates it too!

I learned to make them as beaded sun catchers not actual dream catchers since they don't have the same meaning behind them and I am not Native.  They are just something pretty for the wall or window! Smiley

Whether it's catching dreams or the sun, it's still pretty. Good for you sticking it to the man and giving it to a nice lady. I bet that made her day.
