Bacon Bow-Ties

As I have seen a lot of posts lately asking for contributions to their party menus, I figured I would post this very easy and VERY tasty recipe that I've made several times.  It first showed up at my sister's wedding shower, and it looked so weird that we had no idea what it was 'til we tasted it.

Ingredients:
Box of Town House Crackers
16 oz. package of cream cheese
Package of Bacon

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Cut each piece of bacon into three equal slices.  Smear a Town House cracker with enough cream cheese to cover and top with another cracker, and wrap with one of the third pieces of bacon in the center.  Repeat until you run out of bacon.

Place all of the bacon-wrapped crackers on a baking sheet (don't use a cookie sheet;  the bacon grease will run off into your oven).  Put in the oven.  As the crackers bake, the bacon will "squeeze" the cracker into a bow-tie shape, hence the name.  These will bake for about 15 minutes or until the bacon looks done to you.  Put them on a paper towel covered plate to drain.

You could also use some of the cream cheese with chives if that suits you, but we just think they're awesome plain.  Super fattening with the greasy bacon and buttery crackers and creamy cream cheese, but delicious!

I can't wait to try your Bacon Bow-Ties! Wow, do they sound good! I have a similar (yet, different) recipe, that that I thought you might like, if you like bacon.

You need:
a loaf of white bread
a can of cream of mushroom soup
a package of bacon

1. Cut the crusts off of approximately 10 pieces of bread, and save for the birds or a stuffing recipe.

2. Flatten each piece of bread, either with the palm of your hand or with a rolling pin.

3. Cut each piece of bacon in half (or thereabouts).

4. Spread a light coating of the cream of mushroom soup on each piece of bread.

5. Roll up bread, jelly-roll fashion.

6. Wrap bacon around the roll.

7. Cut roll in half, so you have two shorter rolls.

8. Do this until you're out of supplies.

9. Bake on a pan that will collect the grease at about 350, for about 20 minutes, or until you think the bacon is cooked. Place on paper towels and serve immediately.

These are always a hit with my family's parties.

That really is a picture of my cat, Enid.  She is 2 years old & has a bobtail!  She is a very sweet kitty.  I take lots & lots of pictures of my cats & my dog, so I have several of them "making faces."  She is a sucker for a cardboard box or a bag.

I have seen the idea of using bread flattened out instead of the crackers, but never with cream of mushroom soup.  Man, I bet that's good, too!  Cream of mushroom soup is also good mixed with a can of cheddar cheese soup and used as a sauce for meatballs;  cook your meatballs as usual (or use a bag of the frozen ones) and heat the cans of soup in the same pan.  Serve over egg noodles.

cream of mushroom soup is awesome for so many things... 3 cans, a couple of chicken breasts, rice, and peas , slow cooked in the electric skillet is one of my favorites!
