My year hasn't quite ended, yet. But a wonderful project all the same. I agree with what has been said. A very wonderful work of art. Neat colors, neat use of your materials, and a very cute stuffie to cuddle. Glad you made it into the gallery. You deserve it, for sure.

NEW REQUEST: Need quilting fabric with ONLY purple, grey, green. Solids or Prints in any combination/shades, but NO OTHER COLORS ALLOWED. HELP! They are hard to find.

Thanks!!!  Cheesy Cheesy =^..^=

The spikes were made from Shetland fiber which has a short staple and a very fine crimp. Basically I separated enough fiber for each spike - needled the tips together and then rolled the fiber between finger and palm*. Even with its short staple, I still trimmed the fiber to appropriate length for this hedgehog. Time consuming, but effective. The resulting spikes were needled into the body alternating between the light and dark colors and working from the tail towards the head.

*I may have used a drop of water on my palm when rolling the spikes - I don't recall, but that certainly wouldn't hurt and might have assisted in making their shape more stable.

You're unique! Just like everyone else!!

An online friend of mine, who started felting recently, added a drop of elmer's glue (possibly diluted) to her felted snail sculpture (antennae) and it looked beautiful... would make really neat needles for any hedgie, if anyone would be up to making 286 of them in that manner Cheesy
