I'm looking at some fabric for a quilt, and there are two fabric choices for the line I want - regular premium cotton and brushed cotton. The brushed cotton is more expensive, so I'm guessing it's supposed to be better.

What is the difference between the two? Which would you recommend?

As long as they're both 100% cotton I would go with whichever you can afford. Do they have descriptions that might help? You can share a link.

@MareMare - The site I was looking at the fabrics on doesn't describe the difference.

This is the regular premium cotton: http://www.fatquartershop.com/mixed-bag-layer-cake

This is the brushed cotton: http://www.fatquartershop.com/brushed-cotton-mixed-bag-layer-cake

I tried looking it up online, and I didn't find much. One site said that brushed cotton has a fuzzy side like flannel, but that sounds wrong to me.

Oh, if you go down to the bottom on each one it says fabric type, and one is flannel. The other is quilting cotton.

Personally I don't like working with flannel since if you biff it up it's super hard to rip out stitches without ripping the fabric itself. But it's super nice for babies and kids to snuggle up to!

@MareMare - Thanks! I guess I didn't read far enough down.  Undecided

I like flannel for some things, but I think I'll get the regular cotton for my quilt.

That's super cute fabric! Have you purchased from them before? They are my favorite online fabric store, love em!

@MareMare - It is really cute fabric. Smiley It's a new release, and most shops don't have it available yet. I just got this layer cake in the mail today (http://greenfairyquilts.com/catalog.php?item=3369), and I am planning to make a tumbler quilt for my little girl who is due in March. I thought it might be nice to make a quilt for my son too, so the Mixed Bag would be for him.

I haven't bought anything from FQS yet, but I have a list of things I want! I've been able to find the things I was looking for cheaper other places so far. I got a few charm packs for a better price on Amazon with free shipping. I got some yardage on Etsy that FQS either didn't have or had a higher price on. I won a $30 gift card to another fabric site I had never heard of before (http://greenfairyquilts.com/), and I got the Wrens & Friends layer cake from them. They have a small selection, but their sale prices (which they seem to always have) are better than I've seen other places, and they have free shipping in the US. I'll probably get the Mixed Bag layer cake from GFQ because their price is better.
