Glass Marble Magnets

the one closest my house had all sizes. from the little ones, to a medium sized one, to huge.

Possibly so, or maybe the craftsters in my area outside San Antonio have already scarfed them up!!!! Our Dollar Tree had small pearlized marbles, and some colored brook-like pebbles, but none of the clear in any size.

boo. what a drag. i'd pick them up and ship them, but that isn't very cost effective.

I am loving the magnet thing.  I got the supplies this afternoon and here are a few...they're not magnets yet. I couldn't find any today but I made the glass/pic part anyway. Someone said "instant gratification"..man it really is.  It is addictive!

I've used the E6000 and it didn't stick! The paper peeled off the marbles, but the glue remained well stuck to the glass. I've gone back to using white glue in dollops.



BTW, how do you back your marbles so they look neat? I've tried using black oil paints, using sheet magnets that cover the whole back (but are a pain to trim) and I tried using magnets that cover the whole back of the marble. Is there some metallic backing you can find somewhere to neaten up the edges?

I picked up marbles at WalMart - and they don't quite cover a 3/4" magnet - does anyone else have that problem???

Oddly enough, I discovered the ones at Walmart were just a tad too small for 3/4 inch magnets, but the ones at Hobby Lobby tended to be enough bigger to be perfect for 3/4 inch magnets EXCEPT the jumbo size bag of the small marbles. Get this, the smaller bag had bigger marbles than the giant bag (twice as many marbles) , both bags being from Hobby Lobby. 

I've about decided to use the smaller than 3/4 inch size for bordering picture frames, instead of trying to take them back.

hmm...I just glue stick my art to plain white or colored index cards, then punch out with a hole punch.  then I use e6000 to glue to the marble and to the magnet.  I haven't had any trouble at all, except one that was a huge marble on an itty bitty magnet pulled loose and split my paper backing from the artwork.
