Having been paired up with a dragon lover for the recent Christmas stocking swap, I just had to have a go at creating my own little chap.
All made with my own hand dyed and carded fleece. I just love how his expression came about - a little bit daft and a little bit cute don't you think.............
I also love love love the way this particular fleece made the scales work - Its a very rough fleece so bulking up is always good and fairly easy.
The wings were stiffened by soaking a wet felted sheet in PVA (that's modge podge to those over the pond) mixed with water, I found a 1/3 water - 2/2 glue worked well. then due to the horrendous wet weather over here I wasn't able to dry it outside - so I ended up drying it in a warm oven Smiley

Enjoy ....

Hi. I am this side of the pond, USA. Wood glue is also considered a PVA here, though does not dry clear. It is a yellowish tint. I have had troubles with Mod Podge remaining sticky. With our humidity, especially. I can get it to dry, but then wet weather sticks it up again. I will have to try your warm oven idea, maybe that will help to "cure" it. I am all for experimenting with things.  Grin But open your windows or doors here? Humid! Even just in the house, let alone leaving things outside.

Very neat dragon. I still need to try needle felting. You crafty sorts seem to have a really good time with it. Perhaps when I get more time to focus.

Mind you in the wool stage, he was de flead, boiled, vinagered, boiled again, dyed, then combed.  (He liked it I assure you)

No wonder he looks slightly goofy, all those vinegar fumes must have gone to his brain!

Daft but cute, I think that describes his expression perfectly.   Smiley  His scales are absolutely gorgeous.  I recently tried needle felting for the first time, and I just love it.  But I've only used cheap craft felt so far, so I haven't done wet felting or used pretty fleece like this yet.  Someday!

He is beautiful. Those scales are done so well. Does he have 1 horn or 2? Either way, that(those) look great too.

He has two - let's just say that one is slightly more limp than the other - though don't let ratfinks hear us saying that - she's very protective of her new baby !
