So I finished this sweater for a friend of mine a couple of days ago and I'm proud to say it won the ugly Christmas sweater contest at his offices holiday party!
I followed this base pattern for the sweater: http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/father-pullover
And I free-form crocheted the rest and then popped battery operated led lights through the holes in the front.

Personally, I really like the front and couldn't see how it won an ugly sweater contest.  Then I saw the picture with the sleeve patches and could understand.  They are great patches, just not on that sweater.

But, really, the front is great!

Well done! I love the stripey sleeves and the surprise ugly on the elbows. The glittery pom poms for ornaments are perfect.

I don't find it ugly at all. It's a beautiful Christmassy sweater.

I gotta agree, not so ugly at all (aside from those horrible sleeves, lol.)
