So over the years I have made several attempts at quilting, but not got very far (or just got bored halfway). I'd manage to make one or two panels, and then get bored and move onto another project, but this time I was determined!!
So I found this tutorial on-line
, which I thought was easy enough, yet provided me with enough of a challenge so that I wouldn't get bored.
So I grabbed my fabric and cut out my 5" x 5" Squares and about 100 white squares (probably one of the most time consuming elements of this project). I did this while working on a very low down table, which pretty much destroyed my back, But hey! I'm nothing but dedicated to my art
This is what the panels looked when I lead them out on my bed. The panels soon grew into larger panels, much larger then I had expected, In fairness I don't know what I had expected, I was just completely obviously to the fact I was making a quilt. Then when I started to piece together the panels, I realised just how big this quilt was going to be!
So big indeed that my little sewing machine struggled with the mass amount of fabric! It was at this point I decided against 'quilting' the entire quilt and just worked around the border.
Needless to say, I persevered and completed my 1st ever quilt
I still can't believe how big it is!
Not sure if you can see it on this picture, but I used two different colours of fabric to bind the quilt (tactical move as I had a limited amount of L.Blue fabric available).
I really enjoyed making this quilt, its not perfect, a lot of the squares aren't even and don't match up 100% and I gave up halfway with the quilting, but I'm still pleased with this quilt, and I'll just improve on those areas next time
Anyway, sorry for bombarding you with pictures and text, I'm just very excited about this quilt! Haha
