Sitting in my room, with a needle in my hand...

Hi ladies!

I'm working on a gift for my friend and my old tank of a sewing machine is giving me headaches. My problem is that the stitches are small and uneven. It runs beautifully other wise. I've fiddled with the tension knob, stitch width, stitch length, bobbin tension, you name it. My folks were going to get me a new one for my birthday, but I seriously love this machine and none of the new ones are like it at all. I can post pictures later tonight of how it's sewing if you need me to, also at the controls/machine. I'm just hoping that one of you guys has had or still has this machine and knows how to fine tune it. There's a sewing machine repair the next town over, but the price is a little steep for this time of year, and I can't get it there until Saturday, though I'm not totally against taking it in if it comes to it.
