I make these every year when I am in beading mode.  I have loads now.  Here is a photo of some beaded deccies that I made from beer can widgets. Not sure if I am supposed to NOT mention the name of the drink but different cans have different shaped widgets so please be aware  The plastic balls fromm deodorant bottles are every bit as useful as widgets from beer cans.

Thank you

Cherie

What cute and lovely decorations!

Which part is the beer can?  I just googled 'beer can widget'.  I had no idea!  What a fabulous recycle!

What a great idea! They're so pretty; I love the green and red one in the middle.

I had to google beer widgets too... Smiley

This is a super cool recycling project! They look so adorable!
My favourite is the green one in the middle that is almost
completely covered.

Not sure if this counts as a second entry.  If it does please don't judge him just enjoy him. .   His head is a widget from a beer can.  His body a polystyrene block from old packaging.  His hands and feet are little bits of fabric stuffed with cotton wool. His hat and coat are made from a kind of felt or flock covered paper that i was given ages ago but had no idea what to do with. Even his beard is made of wadding that I was given.  All he cost is a bit of glue and some time.

Now that I know what a beer can widget is, I can't wait to tear open some cans!  I never knew this little treasure was there, as I don't drink much beer...wow..

What lovely ornaments...and I adore that Santa!

Oh wow. I never thought to ribbon the beer can/soda pop tabs. I have been researching the crochet projects made with those. Yours is a really neat idea. It looks like you made belts, but I wish to make a purse, but I bet I could lace them your way, and then stitch them to the lining on the edges, and tuck in the ribbon flaps to the inside, somehow. Maybe just by adding an additional lining. Very interesting. Thanks  Grin

And...I also researched the widget thing. I never knew those were in there, either. Very interesting, too. I am a wine and vodka kinda' girl, but I will have to see at my local pub if they will save the cans for me. For those import brands we won't mention, but that come with these fun materials for crafting.  Grin Another thanks.
