Decorating a Christmas tree this year?  Share some photos of your creations here!

We won't be decorating until next week, but here's some photos of our tree from last year to get the thread started.  I use lots of ribbons and glittery bits like pine cones and twirly stems.

I used to have an artificial tree, but my rabbit decided the wire made a good teeth tester and ... yeah.  So a new tree for this year.  I decided on a real tree and looked all over for a small one (since my house is teensy and I wanted it out of range of rabbit teeth).  After searching and not finding what I wanted, I bought a regular sized tree, had them cut it in half, got the boughs for decoration and a small tree.  Cheesy  I was just lucky that the trees were oddly affordable!

I've decorated it in Craftster chic.  75% are ornaments I've received in swaps, either hand made or purchased for me, with the last quarter being sentimental favorites I just can't not put up!  You can also see the stocking I received last year in the Stocking swap and the garland I got the year before in the Stocking swap. Cheesy

And nighttime:

Ooh, I love Christmas tree photos!  We have an artificial tree (which in my opinion aren't nearly as pretty, but the husband hates real ones for some reason).  It's up and on, but I'm going to be doing some Doctor Who ornaments and a felt garland before posting.

The fun thing is that parts of our tree is like a scrap book.  When we take a trip, we always pick up an ornament and write the year on it.

Sooo funny. I did the same when daughter was young. They guy cutting it for me was like "you sure you just want to take half the tree?" I'm like...yup. No room for more. I did take home a few boughs for a wreath. It worked out fine. Christmas is what you make of it. Great job, and better for bunny. Very cute tree. Glad you are enjoying holidays.

Another thought for little ones...put the tree in a playpen. To keep the kids out of it. Or other puppies or animals who can't climb. I have seen some neat ones hung upside down from the ceiling, too. Those look neat! Just ideas.

Happy holidays to all...Merry Christmas!  Grin

OOOOH I love to see pictures of people's Christmas trees and decs.  We have just finished decorating out trees and putting up all the swags and other Christmassy bits.  Hubby has decided that he wants me to  'bling the hanging baskets'.  The winter panises will be getting a touch of glitz and glam tomorrow  :-)

This is our tree this year-- It is Fake -- which is unfortunately the only type of tree we'll ever have in my house as I am highly allergic to real ones Sad!! Bought new tree, star, lights and ornaments this year per my 5 year old DD's request! She wanted a tree with rainbow star & decorations and white lights- so that is what she got + added white snowflakes!!! But to be unique I of course couldn't get a traditional green tree & went with a very pretty black tree instead!!
I just love how simple it is this year!! & the rainbow ornaments stand out so nicely against the black background!!

I love seeing these trees! Ours we cut from the yard where we planted them a number of years ago, and unfortunately we're down to the less-shapely ones. I think it will be a mite too scraggly to post here.

Well, it's less of a Charlie Brown tree and more of an overgrown, asymmetrical mess. Our tree last year threatened to fall over a few times, since it got shaded out by some surrounding trees that grew quickly. We'll see.

Here's our little pink Rainbow Unicorn tree that is sprucing up my crafty area. The amount of old ornaments I have is silly, so a few of them made it to this tree. The chubby unicorns are made from cardstock on to which I finger painted the unicorns' bodies and heads, then used the edge of some cardboard to make the legs. And all unicorns are sparkly so they got glitter glue manes and tails!

We put our tree up yesterday. We have three trees: The main one (the real one), my pink one and my husband's robot one. I need to get a picture of his robot one but here's our big tree and my pink one.

The big tree has a star garland on it I made a few years ago.

We collect old ornaments too. We bought some at an estate sale, it had a gift tag in it with the inscription:

To the woman that I love more and More each year, from Spence.

We kept that tag and every year, put it on our tree to honor the unknown woman and Spence.

Potter-I think I NEED that kittycat under your tree.

What a fun topic, I LOVE seeing everyone's trees! This year I sprung for a noble fir, I've always wanted one, but they're usually just too spendy. This year, my niece is coming home for Christmas (she'll be here in two days - eeep!) so I decided there would never be a better reason, woohoo! So anyway, this is our main tree in the family room, we have two others, that I don't have pictures of yet; a Star Wars/ice hockey tree that I do up for mu hubby, and a white/candy colored tree in that's usually in my craft room, but this year the guest room to brighten up the space my niece will be staying in. Good times! And, whew! A lot of work!  Grin Tongue

Anyways, my tree!

I am so loving this thread! Everyone has done such wonderful work on their trees! The white one especially catches my eye. My family {grandma} had a vintage silver one that I remember as a child. Back when metal trees were allowed  Grin That one reminds me of hers.

I went to pay bills in town today, and the various offices had beautiful ones, too. I spent extra time at the electric company just enjoying all their fancy ornaments. Store bought, but in brilliant colors, and textures. I asked if they had hired someone professional to decorate it, as it had the neatest ribbon garland streamers. Very gauzy and poofed from a top bow {used for the star} and ruffled down the boughs. A wide 4" ribbon, and very lacy. In a bright cranberry red.

They did it theirselves!!! They must have a very crafty sort working there, because I have never seen anything so wonderful. And up close it was mezmerizing. Just thought I would share this. My tree will be boring again this year, but I spend most of my holiday alone, so I'm not going to bother with a whole lot of unpacking of my favorite ornaments. I spend most of my time on my nativity displays. I think I will use my white one in my front powder room this year. Still thinking of ideas to dress it up. It is white porcelain with gold accents, but the counter is also white. Any ideas? PM me, please. I would really like something to set it off.

And a member here shared their twig tree. So I think I will add a Charlie Brown tree in that bathroom, too. You know, the one with just one red ball on it? Those crack me up, and that is the bathroom I wake up to. So that will help keep me in the holiday spirit.

Anyways, I just want to thank all the members here for sharing your wonderful trees with us. And very lovely ornaments that you have been collecting and making and trading.  Grin

Love them all! each tree is so unique and special in it's own way.
I'm still undetermined about what we are going to do for a tree.  We want to get a real one, and do the go out as a family and chop one down thing, but aren't sure just yet. WE've also got 2 fake ones, and one is definitly going in the basement.  The kids will get to decorate that one.

I love seeing everyone's trees.  I need to take a picture of mine.  I bought a new one this year so that it wasn't as big around (the thing was HUGE!!!)  So I don't have to use "filler" ornaments this year.  They are almost all ornaments that are special to us.  We have a tradition, every year we buy a new ornament for our tree for each person.  My husband started giving me ornaments when we were dating in high school.  I thought it was the sweetest Christmas gift!  So now we buy atleast one new ornament per person per year.  I say one, but we usually end up with more than one, LOL.

Quite lovely. And I agree. I am not Cuban, but the Nativity is always a big part of my Holiday, as well. HE is the reason for the season. Not all the greed that seems to go with things. I welcome everyone to celebrate in their own way, but for me I don't use "Xmas". I put the Christ in Christmas.

Your tree is beautiful, CubanMother. I love your star topper.

And for all the other posters that I did not get to comment on...I have enjoyed them all the same. So glad you are enjoying all your holiday things. I wish a Merry Christmas to all, or whatever you celebrate for the Yule.

What a beautiful selection of Christmas tree's.  We too have a number of Nativities dotted about the house as a gentle reminder of the reason for the season. And kittykill I love the pink tree and am very intrigued by a robot tree.
And I must acquire for our next Christmas a tree topper like angielou1's!  That is awesome and unlike any I have ever seen!  I love it!

I acquired it a long time ago when my boys were very young. My husband often worked graveyard shift and holidays, so we would let them open presents on the eve of 24th from us and then we would wake them up before he would go to work and Santa would've arrived miraculously on the morn of 25th with presents from him. Hmm the memories. Smiley
It's actually a table top decoration that I modified to fit onto our old slim artificial tree. After 24 years the lights and tree finally gave up and I got to buy my german pistol tree from CityLights (a year-round Christmas store)that I always wanted. I will be able to show off some of my real glass and expensive ornaments I have received thru the years Grin

Loving all of these trees and stories. It is now Christmas Eve. Wishing all of you that celebrate a Merry Christmas and hope you'll post more trees.

I am so late to this party.
Your trees are all beautiful. Anyone else still have theirs up? Eep! This year was our first Christmas in our new house so to make it special we bought a live potted tree so we can plant it in our awesome back yard. I don't think it will be a tradition, but I do think we will decorate it outside each year.
Our decoriations are always rather drab, until you get close up! We have lots of my husband's ornaments from when he was growing up that his mother gave us a few years ago and each year we make new ones with the kids. That's pretty much all we had on there other than the lights. I didn't even do any ribbon or anything. Oh well, maybe next time it will be more exciting. Here it is:

And a full shot  on Christmas Day. We have it in a wagon so we can maneuver it and to add a little height to it. All 3 kids also got little wagons for presents so I found it fitting to arrange them like this.

And a mantle shot on Christmas morning just to keep the festivities alive because why not? Kaz showed her stocking I made 2012 so I'll she the one she made me too.

Thanks for sharing. Love the background story, the wonderful fire and of course, the lovely tree and wonderful ornaments. Looks so cozy.
