Thank you for sharing this post.   I had no idea that silk worms were often harvested along with the silk.  It was interesting to see your process from start to finish.

Bella, I was at a local needlework shop yesterday and the girl there was working on a pillow covering that she'd embroidered with all sorts of different fiber threads and naturally dyed brown. Some of the fibers and the base linen fabric were very light, nearly tan, but the silk threads were nearly Black, they'd taken the dye so well. I just wanted to let you know so you can go slow with the walnut when you do your dye batches. I'm not sure if you can rinse out some of the dye to lighten if afterwards if it gets too dark too quickly.
It was such a nice piece Smiley. Now I can't wait to see what you do with your finished product!

awesome, thanks for the heads up on the walnut dye.  It's one I've yet to use, but maybe I'll make a full strength version of something and exhaust dye the silk. Silk takes colour so vividly.  Also, don't hold your breath.. I'm sure I'll be stitching last minute again. It will be done for june, but likely not before lol

Time flies for me, that will be here before I know it!
The older you get, the faster time seems to move. I remember as a child the days seemed so endlessly long, you could play for what felt like forever. Now it all just zips past in the blink of an eye. Gotta take care to savour each moment and fill them all up with good stuff. No TV watching for me, just doing doing doing, lol.

I still can't believe there are only 11 days until christmas, and 17 until new years eve... Time does fly when you get older. I just wish I was less easily distracted. but there's so much to be distracted by! lol I'd get way more done Smiley
