Nicajeanie: Love the ornament!

Noodle-bug, that looks awesome!  Is there an event happening at your theatre that this is for?

Hello HPCers!  I'm back from my holiday festivities and recovery. Cheesy For those who celebrated, I hope you had a wondrous holiday!  Okay, now back to Hogwarts business.  I think it is time for a challenge, and that's is just what I'm here to present to you...

~*New Year Challenge*~
~*Timeline: January 1 - January 31*~

Much like the rebirth of the phoenix, the new year marks a fresh start.  And in this spirit, many take this opportunity to make resolutions.  These resolutions are usually plans on how to improve themselves or the world around them.

Students, your New Year Challenge is to state one of your resolutions and present a project that either represents your resolution or helps you achieve your resolution goal.

This challenge is for students looking to earn extra points for their house; you CANNOT combine this challenge with any other class or challenge1.  Once you complete this challenge, you may snag your Phoenix Badge below.

Good Luck!

~*The Phoenix Badge*~

To claim your badge, right click and save to your computer.  Then, you can do whatever you wish with it.  Ideas on how to showoff your badges: use it as an avatar, put it in your profile under Brief Bio, or create a pinterest board for all your badges.  Can't find a badge?  Head to the Badge Station located on the first page, fifth post of this thread.

You are welcome to do any, all, or none of the HPC Challenges.
Remember, they are just here to help get your crafty muses singing! Grin

Class:Herbology
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Christmas Cake
I made this cake to take for dessert at a family dinner. The sponge was marbled red and green and then decorated with red and green buttercream. I used this recipe for the sponge: http://cakecentral.com/a/simple-moist-white-cake-scratch-wasc and then added wilton food colouring to the mix. The icing is red and green buttercream and green dust.

Class: Gravy Bean
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Ladybug cookies
I made a bunch of these cookies to give out to visitors over the holidays.
Recipe: (makes 24 cookies)
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 cup flour

cream butter and icing sugar. gradually add flour, mixing until it forms into a dough.
Wrap and refrigerate dough overnight.
To shape cookies just pull off pieces and form into small ball type shapes.
Bake at 350F for 10 mins.
To decorate I used a spray icing to get the red and some black decorating icing to get the black spots.

Headmistresses, I don't know if you saw, but I updated my shepherd's pie post with the recipe a few days ago

Happy new year everyone!

Class - runes
House - slytherin
Project name - bbq ribs
Nothing says joy and hope like bringing in the new year with friends and the people i love most. I hosted a potluck to celebrate and made some ribs for the main dish.
My recipe.
1 racks of pork ribs
Sauce (per rack of ribs) -
2 cup Ketchup
1 cup Orange juice
2 cup Brown sugar
3 tsp Soy sauce
2 tbl Chilli powder
I used a roasting dish to cook the ribs. For the sauce, combine all of the ingredients and mix until kind of evenly spread. Pour the sauce over the ribs. Cook at 350f for 2 hours. The sauce kind of caramelizes in the oven over the ribs so no need to cook any of it off first.

Class - spew
house - slytherin
project name - sugar cookie sugar scrub
I made this sugar scrub for a door prize at a fundraiser for my local animal shelter

Class - new year resolution
house - slytherin
project name - storytime
My new years resolution is to read to my daughter. I want to spend at least 30 minutes a night reading to her. With that in mind, i knit myself a bookmark to help us mark our place.
