I was charged with bringing a dessert to Thanksgiving and wanted to makes something cute.  I saw some mini pies that were adorable, and came up with a recipe that ended up being quite a hit.

I cut out small circles of pre-made pie crust dough to fit the cups on a mini muffin tin, and poked a few holes in each with a fork.  I got exactly 24 out of a 9" pie crust.  I baked the crusts around 375 F for about 5 minutes, until they were just starting to brown.

I filled the cups with Nutella (a butter knife worked best for me), and added a slice of banana.  I tested bananas at different ripeness points, and the ones that were just barely ripe (still a little green), tasted the best.  They also held up fine in the fridge for about 5 hours before the pies were served, and never browned.  It took two large bananas for the 48 pies I made.

I used a whisk to whip up some fresh whipped cream, and piped it on top of the bananas using a Ziploc with the corner clipped.  (I did not add any sweetener or flavoring to the cream).  I finished them off with some graham cracker crumbles.  They turned out delicious, if I do say so myself.  Cheesy

Ingredients (makes 48):

2 pre-made 9" pie crusts
Nutella (I used about 4-5 ounces total)
2 barely ripe large bananas
1 pint heavy whipping cream, or pre-made whipped cream
2 graham crackers

Cut pre-made crusts to fit mini muffin tin cups.  Poke crusts with fork and bake for about 5 minutes at 375 F (cooking times may vary, watch crusts closely).  When crust cups have cooled, fill each with a generous scoop of Nutella.  Slice bananas and add one piece to each pie.  Top with fresh or canned whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles.  Serve immediately, or place in air tight container and store in refrigerator for use the same day.

Yum, yummy. Sounds really good!
Not fond of nutella, but peanut butter might substitute? It is a milder nutty flavour.
I like making these kind of mini tart things. I just might try this.
Allergic to banana, but not if it is cooked  Huh Don't know how that works. I guess when it is carmelized with the sugars.

Great share...Thanks!

those look great.  I applaud you for having them left to serve.  I would have sampled them all while piping.

Um. What now? The main reason to buy nutella is because it's delicious and it needs to get in your mouth right now. Just grab a spoon and go to town!

uh... I can't.  I have a...a.... a... I just can't justify it! I just can't do nutella like that. Or on toast.  Actually, it's the commercials for the stuff, they really turn my crank. passing it off as wholesome goodness when it's pretty much icing in a jar... This recipe may be close to the only acceptable use of nutella.  LOL
