You will also need a 30 inch zip, (I used an open ended one) and a strip of fabric suitable for handles.

- Do you end up using the entire zipper for the bag?

Make up the lining fabric in the same way, omitting the zip, loops and handles.

8. Turn the bag right side out and place the lining inside it, cut a piece of the interfacing 8x20 inches and lay this in the bottom between the two layers. Stitch the two together along the opening/zip. This will create a double layer of stitching.

Can someone elaborate on the sewing of the lining to the zip?  What do you do with the lining piece that doesn't have the zipper?  Do you create a box/hole?  Secondly, would it be easier to sew the lining to the zipper as well and then just sew the lining to the zip that way (leaving a hole to turn it?)

I love this bag and so very much want to complete one. I am having the problem with the "envelope" methodology. I have come to the realization I may not know how to make an envelope in the first place. I hope someone is still looking at this tutorial. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  Embarrassed

I have tried this bag and really have messed up corners.  I can't get the envelope piece to happen  on  the side pieces it happens to the top and bottom pieces.  This causes me to catch too much fabric for the corner.  Assistance how to correct would be helpful.

I like it a lot! And the fabric is great. I got some of that fabric too, in other colours. Anyone knows where to get more?
