Sooooo, a while ago we were driving down the street and saw a pile of junk with a sign that said "FREE STUFF". I'm not proud so... Woo hoo! Included in that pile-o-junk was a beat up old dresser. I've taken two of the drawers and made a couple of large shrines with them.

All of the mushrooms and houses in these pieces were made using a low fire clay that was fired in a pit in my backyard. The moon was supposed to be clay too. I sculpted two versions, one which exploded during firing and the second which ended up being FAR too small. So, in a pinch, this moon was made with polymer clay.

And...

A detail shot of the interior for a poster for an upcoming arty farty show...

This is the largest I've worked shrine-wise. My shrines up until this point have been handheld size but these ones measure 16" x 28". They're monsterous!

They are gorgeous!

I bet it was more difficult to make such large shrines.

I just love your work! Tiny, small, big, large.. I don't care I just love it!

The moon is so pretty and relaxed-looking, the mushrooms are lovely and I like all the flags above the moon!

How fun for you to try your art in a new /sizedimension.
And how fun for us that we get the look at it.

I love that moon, also - what a serene and comforting face.

Monstrous but fabulous! I've always admired your other shrines but meh, they didn't do too much for me (no matter how great they have been) But these really get me. I think the negative space in the middle is what really draws me to them. These are things to really display, not just knickknacks to get cluttered with everything else on a shelf. I hope I'm not offending you here. All of your work astounds me, but these are the top of the line. MASTERFUL. The layers and the details and everything just seems so balanced. I like the first one best. The moon has so much personality.

No offense at all! I like the second for the reason you said... the spacial quality of it. In person it's much better than what the photographs show and I think it's stronger than the first. It's a hard thing to photograph because of the little elements, but looking at it, being able to sort of stick your head in the space and understand the dimention of it, it's like being in a playground  Smiley

Gorgeous, Knickers! I salute you for working so large. That can be so difficult, but you nailed it. They are both fantastic, but I am so in love with that second one. It's just beautiful.

I love these! so darn cool - nicely done as always Smiley
love the ladders - the one up to moon and the one that leads up to the branch - makes your eyes move around the pcs nicely. and that moon is outstanding.
