It's a long story.

I love convertible mitts and am a huge admirer of yarn, yarn crafts and those who can do them, but am simply not one who enjoys the actual process of knitting or crocheting. I have tried. It's just not me. I make do with others' talents for yarn. I do, however, like sewing! Thus, these were born:

The outside is a pretty stable, thin knit and the inside is a minky fabric. I used the same pattern I did up for these...

but allowed for the bulkier and less-stretchy fabric (the striped ones above were made out of very stretchable t-shirts.)

The pattern part is still a work in progress but I'm happy with both pairs even though I had to do in-progress tweaks. They fit (which can be hard for me and my short, stumpy fingers), they're warm enough for their respective uses and I didn't have to fight with yarn. Win!

I totally have a glittens obsession. I really like the t-shirt one, I may do that with the million I have lying around.

I just finished knitting a pair of those for my horse loving daughter to wear at the barn. Yours look like they'd hold up better and be warmer, though! Great job on them. Did you have a pattern?
