Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet...

Every Halloween, my fiance and I attend Horrorama, a local horror movie marathon that hosts fun horror and Halloween themed contests, like the zombie walk contest and the scream contest.

Now, I can't scream and my shuffle is kind of rusty, so thankfully there's a costume contest. For the past three years, I've either won outright or come in second, and after a disappointing second place finish last year, I knew I had to go all out -- go big or go home, right?

So I went big -- I present, Saint Row 3 & 4's Professor Genki!!

The costume was a hit, though many people didn't know exactly who I was. The host affectionately referred to me as "that acid-trip nightmare," hahaha.

Even so, I reclaimed my title and won! Yay!

The pieces I made for this costume were the ENORMOUS head, the tail, and the bowtie. I had never attempted anything like this huge mascot head before, so I was nervous, but my dad's wisdom--quit worrying about it and just start working--kept me going. The head is made of a styrofoam base that was covered in batting and then covered in fleece. The glasses are styrofoam covered in craft foam, and the ears are shaped plastic canvas covered in fleece. In spite of its size, it was actually pretty light and comfortable to wear, just as long as I remembered to duck through door frames. Smiley

Here's some of the very few in-progress shots I took:

I have no idea how I'm gonna top this next year.
Thanks for looking!

while I would also refer to you as an "acid trip nightmare" in this costume, as I've got no idea who you are supposed to be..... That's great!! love the work that went into it!
