This tutorial will show you how to make a ribbon turkey, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!
Start by gathering the following supplies:
Cut your ribbon to the following lengths
Starting with the 5" brown ribbon, create a tear drop shape by gluing the ends together.
Repeat with the 4" and 3", stacking and gluing them together to form the body.
Next you will take the second 4" brown ribbon, and create an "awareness" shaped ribbon, gluing in place.
You will then turn the ribbon over, make a crease, and glue in creases to create the head and wings.
The next step is to create the colorful tail. You will create tear drops like you did to make the body, only this time you will make them narrower. Repeat with all the colored 4" ribbons.
Next, you will take a 1/8" ribbon, create a tear drop shape for the wattle.
After that you will cut out a beak shape from the extra orange ribbon. Ensure you seal the edges with a flame.
At this point you should have all the pieces needed to start putting the turkey together.
Glue the head and wings to the body.
You will then glue the wattle and beak to the head. (We cut out the wattle from a red ribbon using a wood burning tool)
Next you will glue on the eyes.
Begin gluing the feathers of the tail to the back of the body, ensuring you have the spacing you want. (We also added a head bow to make it a girl turkey)
Now that the turkey sculpture is complete, you can either leave as is, or add some flair. We chose to add brown marabou puff, and turn it into a head band.
Start by gluing the turkey to the marabou
Adding felt circles, glue a head band to the back of the marabou, with the white felt to sandwhich the band in place.
The end result is a super fun and festive ribbon turkey, that you can use for headbands, decoration, and countless other options.
Enjoy, and happy holidays!
