A recent Zelda addiction led my oldest daughters to pick Zelda themed costumes this year.  My 10-year-old wanted to be Zelda, while the 11-year-old wanted to be Saria.
Zelda proved to be quite the challenge, more than just the "blonde princess" that she said would be easy to do.  kids....
I drafted a dress pattern based on a skirt and shirt that fit her well, creating the golden chest plate shape out of fabric, as I did not have the time to mold anything.  I made the gold belt and tiara in a similar fashion: shapes out of fabric, instead of molding. My husband created a stencil for the symbols hanging from her belt, the center symbol being a 2-layer stencil of red then yellow.  Considering, I had just over a week to make it, including adding the gold at the neckline, then taking it in because it was floppy, she was pretty happy with it.

Here is what she wanted : http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120203005954/nintendo/en/images/2/22/Zelda_Spirit_Tracks.png

and here is what she got:

Shoulder detail, and skirt pleats:

Neckline, with top stitching to imitate the beveled look:

Belt:

Stencil:

Tiara:

My Princess Zelda (also with the feather details behind her ears):

With Saria:

And here is a pic of Saria, for reference: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110427001435/zelda/images/7/78/Saria_Artwork.png

Oh! OH!  Both girls also became recent ocarina players, purchasing them from the Renaissance Festival, and practiced a few songs to be able to play them while Trick-or-Treating.

Thanks for looking!
