And one swapper wants a house-shaped piece. Can you guess who?

I've never done this. Sounds interesting.
Can I compare the pages to a Teesha Moore Patch style but one-sided? Eventually put together as a book right?

No, not finished like a TM patch. More like a mini art quilt without the batting.
A piece of fabric that is appliqued, stitched, embellished and maybe embroidered, with the edges unfinished. I guess that sounds like the TM patch but no finished edges.

Each swapper will attach their pages in different ways - that's why we're leaving the edges undone.

Well, that doesn't make anything clearer!

Art journals really intrigue me, but I've never gotten into it.  I'm going to watch for this gallery, and would love to see like, finished journals.  While these are cool, what exactly do you do with them?  Are they meant to just be pretty to look through everyone once in awhile, and/or is the idea they will inspire you somehow...or just sort of like an ATC collection, but in book form?

For me it's a two-fold thing - yes, it's pretty and inspiring and I hope to look at it and feel happy. But also, it's taking book-making and art journaling to a new place - new materials, new techniques and new ideas. I hope someday that one of these crafts will grab me and I'll stick with one thing for a while, but for now, it's a challenge. I'm hoping to go to the Art & Soul Retreat in Portland, OR, in April 2014, and this seems to be the focus of some of the classes - fabric and paper and mixed-media in general.

And yes, I think it would be a great way to save and display ATC's, postcards and other swappy, crafty stuff.

Hmmm Undecided .
After years of putting my 3 sons and husband first and myself on the back burner I'd like to stretch my creative brain this year.I just found this site this year and I'm intrigued.
I'm still considered a newbie but am stretching my wings. Trying to see what I can and can't do. I love this site. Everyone is so supportive. I must admit I was almost sideswiped earlier with my husband getting injured and then myself. But I believe that the creative bug runs in my family. My aunt was a sewer, crocheter and designer. My sister can decorate a home with $20 and my younger sister is a master in the kitchen. I can handle a sewing machine so far. Grin. Last year I actually made all the nieces and nephews one-piece sleepers with footsies and drop-seat. They loved them and they fit. I am rambling but having fun.
I would like to try my hand at this. I'll send in questionnaire. Maybe I'll actually make a journal and use it.
