My sister is going to be a zombie hunter for Halloween so we bought some fake ears at Dollar Tree. However, I didn't think they looked good enough to be a prop so I decided to improve upon them.
They started out looking like this:

The one that is slightly darker has a thin coat of brown acrylic paint on it.
After the paint dried, I took some spray on zombie blood that we bought at Walmart and gave them a light coating. (We decided to use only three because we're going to put them on a shoelace for a necklace.)

Since it wasn't made to be sprayed on prosthetics it didn't dry but it DID soak in a bit and change the color. I wiped off the excess with a paper towel then painted the blood a darker red to make it look like dead blood. Then I gave the ears a bit more character with some old earrings, a screw, and a safety pin.
