I needed something skeleton/zombie themed for my OTT Halloween partner, Glamis. But I wasn't sure what to make. I wound up buying a flexible silicone mold of a lolita skeleton cameo and figured I'd try my hand at casting a pendant out of it. Turns out, it was harder than I expected and took a bunch of tries to get it right. LOL

Here's the end result though:

I started with this:

And after trying a variety of materials, I finally wound up using a white polymer clay. (I didn't get a shot of the front before I started painting but you can see the white back)

I used a combination of pearlescent white acrylic paint, red acrylic paint and a green mica powder to paint the detailed casting and give the recessed parts a hint of the green. When it was done, I put a coupe light coats of Mod Podge over it to seal it.

I adhered the finished it to a ready-made bezel, then strung hematite colored glass pearls, accent beads and red jade beads to make a complete necklace.

Thankfully, she loved it which was a great relief since it was my first time making something like that and I after all the failed attempts to get it right, I was really pleased with how it came out! Cheesy

The pendant looks great and the beads you paired it with make a beautiful necklace.

Thanks guys! Grin I wanted it to look elegant and then you would do a double-take and BAM! it's really not as traditional as you first assumed. Wink

It looks interesting in the first shot, and the close-up of the pendant itself near the end really shows the lovely painting details. It's a beautiful piece.
