i found the most adorable dress at the thrift store for $3. it was made for little kids and i was super bummed but i figured it was gathered so much that i could make a skirt out of it, and i was right! i'm wearing a supplementary petticoat in these pictures but it does have a little built in one!

here's the finished skirt:

i was originally planning on plain red jersey knit fabric for the waistband but i got really inspired at like midnight to make this and i didn't have any, so i used this little kids fabric i have. i think it came out better!

some bottom of skirt detail

here's a kind of crappy picture of what it looked like before:

i'm going to use the extra fabric to make a bunch of huge bows for it but i haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's so cute! I love the fabric you ended up using for the waistband. It was meant to be!

You're making me think of all my daughter's dresses I could've reconstructed into something completely different for me! Awesome work! I'd totally wear this!  Wink

You already know I'm super jealous of this. What a delicious thrift find! I'm also in the process of making ridiculous bows out of part of a thrift-outfit to further lolify the rest of said outfit. Not sure where to put them...

What a transformation! I agree, the waistband fabric is the perfect detail for the skirt. It looks fun to wear.
