I always struggle deciding how many pictures to post as I'm going through this swap - I don't always manage to do one "interesting" thing each week, so don't want to post all my photos and spoil the surprise for my partner when they receive the scrapbook.

I do, however, have a bit of a backlog of photos to post at the moment - I was in London staying with family for the holidays and forgot to take the memory card reader for my camera with me, so have only just been able to upload the pictures onto my computer!

Here's a little bit of what Bean and I have been up to recently...

We celebrated Christmas, and Bean became a guest star in our knitted nativity scene Tongue

Last week we had a day out in London, visiting the Sylvanian Families shop (where I've been wanting to go since I was very little) and the V&A Museum of Childhood, then we saw some famous London landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Buckingham palace, Big Ben and the London Eye)

Bean exploring Sylvania in the Sylvanian Families shop

Travelling on the Underground

Big Ben

Today we had a quick visit to the beach, then did the Alice in Wonderland wooden sculpture trail around my town. I'd wanted to take Bean along the pier, but it was closed Sad. We'll have to try again another day!

So even Florida didn't escape the Polar Vortex of frigid cold air that hit most of the US. It was record-low temps into freezing overnight a few days this week. Of course, being Florida, that didn't last long and today we're back to ABOVE average temps! Had the heat on for a few days and now it's back to the air conditioning!

Willow snuggled into my snuggy to keep warm.

Very briefly, it was even colder alllll the way down here in Florida than Alaska!!

Back to a sunny day (with my ever-growing kitten, Ginger, helping check out the view from my balcony)

Georgie and I ought to have some good times this weekend, since Virginia Beach finally thawed out a little bit (twelve is not a temperature my brain knows how to handle... 73 is recognizable, and welcome). But today, the guy doing the cupcakes for my wedding brought a box of them by for tasting! (Yeah... he brought them to my work! Because he's awesome.)

Seeing as how I had to bring them home for the groom to taste them, Georgie is politely showing great restraint and not falling face-first into them (even though my whole office smelled like cake and icing before I came home).

Ginger is beautiful! I love her color

lol Well Sitka is far from standard for Alaskan temps. It was -11 F in Fairbanks  Wink

The snow is creeping down the mountains again and it was below freezing this morning  Tongue It was hailing all day so we went for a drive and watched some surfers who were taking advantage of the storm that is blowing by-

There is only 15 miles of paved road here... so "going for a drive" doesn't take long unless you like driving in circles. So we went home and baked some wheat bread-

Sorry it's not more exciting.. we had another power outage last night and I completely forgot to take any photos. We seem to be having them about once a week though so I'll take some during the next one lol And when the bears are less sleepy I'll get some more photos of Clyde and some Grizzly Bears, and maybe the black bear cubs that are out at Fortress of the Bear now  Cheesy

Thanks! I call her my "show cat" because she's just so pretty! Wink

Sure but it SOUNDS funny to point out it being colder in Florida! LOL

Surfing is not something I think of when I think Alaska! Shocked Grin

Ugh, power outages suck!

And bears...now that seems like a very foreign animal from what we have around here! Sounds scary but exciting.

It's going to be too warm this weekend but I'm hoping one of these weekends is going to cool down so I can go take Willow to see the manatees. They have a winter sanctuary about an hour drive from me but I've read that it's best to go when it's colder so they huddle together more. (When it's too warm, they spread out and drift around a broader area.) I am determined to get you some good manatee photos!

Oh that's funny because I was going to say she looks like a show cat  Cheesy

Haha yeah I think Clyde was a bit perplexed by northern surfing. They wear full body suits to do it here since the water temp is around 40F. We actually have quite a few surfers here though, and LOTS of divers.

Yay! Manatees! I can't wait Smiley

It's hilarious that it's supposed to warm up in FL now.. because my Alaska friend who was there just left. I've been jokingly blaming the whole polar vortex thing on him.

My mind would think Teesha Moore patches. Just larger than some? Just a guess.

Whoops. Maybe mug rugs?

They are mug rugs / pot holders, both from craftster swaps.

The green, skully, embroidered one is from Whenindoubtsews in the last mug rug swap.
The purple one is from Ninaprettyballerina from the 12 days of Christmas swap (it is green on the other side)

I love them both and they are in constant use.
