More shrines!  I made these two shrines for a Day of the Dead swap at Retro Cafe Art Gallery.  This just happens to be one of my favorite themes and so I was happy to play along!  My past Day of the Dead shrines have always utilized very bold primary colors and red always seemed to dominate so I wanted to broaden my color horizons a bit this time around.  When I ordered supplies the orange and yellow paper roses just jumped out at me.  These are usually two of my least favorite colors but I really think they worked well on the first shrine.

The second shrine I again used yellow but paired it with some red and a few orange accents.  My favorite part of this shrine is the border.  I think I am going to have a future love affair with the Sharpie Paint marker things I used for it!

I wish I had remembered to take photos of the sides and backs of each as they are arted up a bit too but I was in a hurry this morning Wink

Lovely job as usual, Lindy!  I love the roses on the first shrine, and the little paper banner on the second - so very Mexican!  clever!

love these little shrines, the orange and yellow totally reminds me of the marigolds used in Mexico on many people's DOD altars.
I pinned the top one to our Craftster shrines and altered art board on Pinterest Smiley
