I don't know what else to call it, so I'm going with a starburst.  Grin

I found a beautiful version of this necklace in a Fire Mountain Gems and Beads catalog and I knew I had to make my own version.  the original had a very southwest name...but I don't know it and the website doesn't say it.  Undecided  oh well.  you can see the original one here.

Lovely, as usual! And I agree with I Sew Cute, it looks a bit like a gear. It would definitely look Steampunk if you had metallics.

thanks as usual FG.  Cheesy  since she mentioned the gear, I am going to try to get my hands on some metallic Tila beads this weekend (I'm going to another bead show!!!).  if I can't find them there, I'll just have to go online and grab some.

I'm going to a bead show tomorrow.  Shocked Shocked Shocked  I'm going to see if anyone has Tila beads in metallic colors so I can make a metallic version of this necklace.  Grin

the bead show was a total bust.  I'll never be going to another Rings & Things bead show again.  guess I'll have to see if I can find another local one like the one I went to in Ohio.  it was truly AMAZING!!!  but for now, it's off to Etsy or Fire Mountain Gems & Beads for my Tila beads.  Undecided

That's lovely!  I can't wait to see your metallic version.  Sorry to hear the bead show was a bust.  Sad

It's very inspiring, I have a bunch of Tilas in my stash that I should do more with!

thank you so much!  Grin  I'm dying to get my hands on the metallic Tilas.  they're so purdy!  lol

I'm sure if we both look around we could find more ideas on how to use the Tila beads.  I only have a couple sources for ideas right now.  as a matter of fact, Fire Mountain has a small list of ideas right here on their site.

I've been eying some of the stuff Sandra Halpenny has posted.  She has come out with some really amazing snowflake patterns for tilas and superduos!  Plus some other ways of using them in necklaces too!

I really want to play with mine more and try to add them in to a beaded box pattern.

You will LOVE the metallic Tilas too.  The local bead store carries them- expensive but totally gorgeous!

oh cool!  Tila snowflakes sound seriously awesome!

I don't know of any local bead stores in my area.  there used to be one, but it shut down.  Sad  it was where I got my first Magatama beads.

thanks.  Grin  I'm such a dunce sometimes that it took me forever to figure out the pattern.  I know it doesn't look like it in this picture, but if you have a Tila bead in your hand, you can see that one side is flat and the other has a slight curvy look to it.  I kept putting the beads on backwards.  Roll Eyes

just wanted to let everyone know that I am working on another necklace similar to this one, but I won't be using Tila beads (mainly because I'm doing this one in blues and I only have black Tilas).  keep an eye out for it!
