So, my grandpa came up with a great idea to make dime earrings, which turned out to be a big hit. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the earrings before sending them off to be re-homed. My grandpa proudly gave my grandma the first set, delighted that she loved it. Maybe three days after they both decide she needs a dime bracelet. Since the moment that thought crossed their minds my grandpa has called me *every single day* to see if I had started the bracelet. It's quite simple, but nice in its own way. Here is the finished product of said bracelet:

Any and all input welcome. I'm sure I'll be getting some from the grandparents tomorrow anyhow!

Very nicely done. I hope you collect from them your fifty cents! Just kidding. I am glad your grandparents are enjoying your art. I like the effect of the beads placed between them. Do you remember the dates on them? It would be neat if you could do people's birthyear, or wedding dates, or any special date that appeals to them. Won't mention divorce...OK I did..., but men are a dime a dozen!  Wink

This is really pretty! Looks so delicate too. I like stillatthetop's idea of incorporating special years. Great job! Smiley

I really like my idea, too! It would be neat if I could have my children's birthyears incorporated into one. Not sure the current dates on dimes...not counting antique collectable coins, but I think my kids would be within the range.

Another idea I had for collecting and sorting the dates would be to use eggcartons. That way they could be in the "ready". Just in case you decide to offer this service sometime.

I don't make this type of jewelry, but you have me thinking about trying it. I have a drill, and also make other types of wire art. Give grandpa a kiss from me. He had a wonderful idea! I am so glad you could make your GP's happy!

Thanks guys! They were both thrilled with the finished product. My grandpa kept turning it over in his hands smiling and examining. Made me proud of my craft! It looks very delicate on my grandma's little wrist, too!
I think using the special years is a wonderful idea. It would make it even more special and personalized. Also, the egg carton organization idea is pure genius!
Check out my next post soon to come. I used the same general linking idea for a skull bracelet, but added pearl dangle charms to it as well. The skull bracelet is definitely more my speed and I've already had requests for two more of them, even though I just finished it this morning!
