Here's a miniature tree I made for spidermom in the FOC Secret Swap.  About 10" high, made from toilet paper tubes, scenic foam, Claycrete, polymer clay, tiny toy birds, various papers, beads, etc.

Canopy is scenic foam for model railroad bushes and trees.

There are two rooms inside the tree.

The rooms were constructed the same as the Tower of Verbiage, in which each room was papered and decorated, and then glued together.

My favorite parts was making the little spotted mushrooms.  Smiley

Many thanks to you all!   Kiss

The bark texture is acrylic modeling paste shaped with a stiff brush.

Wow, I've tried (and failed) to make tree foliage before with the train set flocking and it was so difficult.  Yours looks so perfect and full.  Great work!

Thank you!  This is not the flocking, but the big chunks of foam called (I think) "Bushes."  Each piece is about 1/2 inch across or a little smaller.  I also used the polyfiber tree  canopy material to form the base of the foliage over a wire armature, onto which I glued the foam bits with Alene's Tacky Glue.  This only sort of worked initially, and I was quite desperate at one point thinking I'd have to tear the whole canopy off because it kept sagging, but I ended up waiting for it to dry, and then sewing a few stitches through the mass of polyfiber and foam, sewing it up onto the wire armature.  This sucked it up and gave it a good tight structure.  But I have to tell you, I was scared for awhile!   Shocked

This is the polyfiber stuff, except they used to sell it in brown, which is what I have (courtesy of my husband): http://www.micromark.com/green-poly-fiber-12-oz,10311.html

This is the foam foliage material: http://www.hobbytown.com/Shop/Woodland-Scenics-Bushes-Clump-Foliage-Medium-Green-12oz-/

I used the finer kind of foam bits for the moss at the base of the tree.
