Congratulations to our latest featured artist in the Paper Crafts Category, littlecircles! Her stunning quilled creations have made me smile with their beautiful colors and wonderful compositions.  I'm very happy to recognize her talents and learn more about her crafty history and inspiration. Here is her fascinating interview...enjoy!

How long have you been crafting? What's the first thing you remember making?
I have been a crafty person for as long as I can recall.  No one else in my family growing up had any interest in such things so I remember spending hours alone in my bedroom cutting and sewing outfits for my Barbies and troll dolls.

Assuming from your gorgeous quilling, your favorite media to work with is paper. Are there other ways you like to use paper in crafts? Do you have other media you like to work with?
- Paper is definitely my go-to medium.  I used to be an avid knitter and was fond of sewing, embroidery and other crafty things but I no longer have much interest in those types of activities.  Quilling has been my passion and my business exclusively for the last five years and I find it to be such an amazing and versatile craft that I am always busy rolling up something new. It fulfills both my crafty and artistic sides.  I have more ideas in my head than hours to make them reality.

What inspires you?
I am very influenced by retro design and colors.  I love feeling tapped into a bygone era.  I enjoy very bold and bright colors and have never met a flower or tree that I did not like.

Is there an artist/crafts person (either contemporary or in the past) that you admire?
- I am a huge fan of photographer Gregory Crewdson

Do you have a creative philosophy?
-Make for yourself and no one else.  Create art that would feed your soul even if no one else other than you were to ever lay eyes on it.

What's your favorite creation you'ce posted on Craftster?
Probably the sunflower necklace tutorial.  Not necessarily the project in and of itself, but because it is a tutorial and I have a passion for sharing what I love.  I believe we all have a responsibility to share our knowledge and encourage others to learn something new and Craftster is the perfect platform to do just that.

What's your favorite item on Craftster created by someone else?
- I am in love with pretty much every painting created by FoxyBlue.  I geek out each time she posts something new.

Thank you so much littlecircles! We're looking forward to what you come up with next!

Wow, I hadn't really heard of quilling before, these are lovely! I especially love that blue necklace.

Quilling is a passion of mine too.  Love your work.  Thank you for the tutorial on the circle quilling tool you developed.  I was used to pill and glue bottles but will make this as well.
