I wanted to share the DIY centerpieces that I created for my July 2013 wedding.
For the succulent centerpieces, I purchased various glass dessert dishes from Goodwill and Salvation Army and used faux succulents and small polished river rocks. Some of the tables had larger dessert dishes than others since they all were different. In the larger containers, I used a small piece of Styrofoam in the bottom and then hot glued the stem of the succulents into that, so that the succulents stayed upright and so I wouldn't need to use so many rocks!
For the smaller containers, I purchased juice glasses from IKEA and filled them with playground sand. My florist brought the roses and sunk the stems into the sand using water picks, so that the flowers didn't wilt. (For the table numbers/menus, I used double-sided photo frames from IKEA.) I used the same play sand in three candle holders of varying heights near my card box too.
Since I used faux succulents, I was able to create these centerpieces ahead of time and didn't have to worry about making them the week of my wedding. And they make for great home decor as well!
