I used a similar container (pale purple, shower gel) to make a little dangly thing that hangs in some bamboo in my yard and dances and twirls in the wind.
First I cut rectangle and square shapes, plus one heart shape for the end -- it cuts very easily -- then punched holes in opposite ends on rectangles, corners on squares and only one hole in the heart.   Attached the heart to the middle of some cording and then strung beads and the squares and rectangles along the rest of the cord. I had to kind of fuss with it to get to hang the way I wanted.  Tied the ends together and hung it in the bamboo.  It's been there about a year and I haven't had any problems with it deteriorating.
I still have the pretty purple top.  Haven't figured out what to do with that yet.
