I'm not exactly sure where to put this! Mods, if this is in the wrong spot, forgive me please.  Smiley

So, I've finally quilled! I've been following all of the WONDERFUL quillers that are on here and I've been playing around with the idea of trying for months. I've been playing around with this one for a long time. Getting irritated and going back to my safe place (wool and sticks) and then going back to it. I finally finished it two days ago and while it isn't anywhere near the caliber of what some people can do...I DID IT! This is done on an el cheapo 12X12 canvas with acrylic paint for the background.

I learned a lot and have ideas for a different one that will cover the whole canvas.

Congrats on completing your first quilling project!  I too have been admiring the quilling work on here from afar ever since joining Craftster this summer.  You did a lovely job!

If you don't mind me asking, how much of an investment was it to purchase the tools and papers to make something like this piece?  And where did you buy the supplies?

If you don't mind me asking, how much of an investment was it to purchase the tools and papers to make something like this piece?  And where did you buy the supplies?

I don't mind at all. I got a kit on Amazon that had just about everything that you would need in the beginning- including some of the paper for like $20. It was by a company called Quilled Creations or something like that. It includes the basic tools and some pretty decent tweezers and glue along with some basic instructions as well. There's a quilling board that you can get separately for around $5-10. I'd recommend it.

You'll need more of the paper than what they put in there and you can find that on Amazon too. I think a multi-color pack usually runs around $6 or so? I've also found the kit and paper in Hobby Lobby if you have one near you. I found the quilling supplies near the kids crafts and pre-made card section- not in the scrapbooking section. I haven't really found quilling items anywhere besides these two places as of yet.

I think all in all, there's around $37 that has been spent but that includes the tools, paper I haven't used yet, etc...

I think you did a fantastic job!  I cannot wait to see what you come up with next.  Just to let you know, you can order all of your supplies directly from Quilled Creations and save quite a bit of money over purchasing on Amazon.  Lake City Crafts have really great papers too Smiley
