I bought a big-big round-to-it this week. I've finally made some progress on the projects I've been planning for ages.

Most of my jam jars come from a very kind gentleman at work who brings them all in for me, the string is surplus from my garden stock.

All my book pages are rescued from the skip outside the library (or more recently, the pile they keep inside for me, that would have gone in the skip otherwise).

I buy things when I have to. When I can make them from stuff I already have or things that would otherwise have gone into the waste I am much more delighted. Grin

A long time ago, I used to entertain a lot and had purchased a ton of taper candles and candle holders...well those days are done, and we entertain differently now...and mostly use jar candles or big pillar candles.

So I gathered all of the tapers and unwanted candles I could find in the garage, closets, etc....almost two full bankers boxes!

Did a quick search on the internet to see how to best melt down the wax (I used a double boiler pan and a coffee can!)...bought some wicks at AC Moore...and made these---so far, I have made 5 of them...we had the jars, so when they are used up, I will make more...I have a box and about half left, but at least I know what I will be doing with them...using them up!

It was a lot of work, but I could not throw the candles into the landfill...and it was sort of fun to layer the wax...I added some fragrance by throwing in one of those scentsy melt things...the colors were there already in the candles...

RECYCLE CANDLES! YAY!

They look good as new - and you can NEVER have too many candles!
